Mind Candy
2005 - 2007Worked for the company behind Moshi Monsters, a social networking site for children. I was responsible for helping moderate the community and ensuring the safety of the users.
Timeline
After leaving Sulake at the start of 2005, by the Spring I had joined Mind Candy, the company who created Moshi Monsters - a social networking communinity often likened to Club Penguin.
By comparision Habbo was a completely different platform to Moshi - in that it was more focussed towards younger children and their parents. It was more educational than 'social' and interaction between users was limited to messages left on your avatars room or on the sites forum.
I fit right in with my colleagues there, as a lot of them were also Sulake alumni - which is partly how I got the position - through a former colleague putting in a good word for me. I didn't have to adjust to anyones work-style and they already knew what my work-ethic was like. We were just in a different place together. However, that would shortly change the next year...
My line-manager left the company in 2006 to persue a personal project, and she was replaced by the former head of safety from when I was at Sulake. We didn't get on personally or professionally at all. Safe to say, within a year - I too left.
